What Is HDPE Pipe?

Nowadays, people are replacing their ordinary pipes with HDPE pipes. They have actually studied the advantages and composition of the material. Hence installed HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) where ever required to avoid unnecessary problems. There are infinite reasons for selecting HDPE for all types of pipe line network. It is used in house, office, factory etc. Though many people are aware of polyethylene HDPE today, but still a significant number of people have not yet heard the term. If you are not familiar with the term HDPE, then let me give you a brief information and description of the element.

To begin with let me tell you what is HDPE. It is a highly durable and ductile material comprising of ethylene polymers. At the initial stage it looks like tough, translucent solid. And the inert quality makes it perfect for long time usage. There are more substances that are mixed with the core substance to make it weather resistant and more sturdy.

After HDPE pipe or the pipe lining is manufactured, they undergo a series of processing steps. As you already know these special pipes can be used in all types of liquid and semi liquid transportation. Hnece, you can use it for both your home and office while industrialists can use them for drainage and sewage system. Moreover, they are also used in oil mines, water plants etc. The moral of the story is you can use a High Density Polyethylene for all liquid semi liquid transportation purpose. When installing an HDPE you will come across a term butt fusion. It is a process of fusing the pipe linings and or with other fittings. A fusion machine is used to hold the fitting and the pipe in a desired position that will help us carry out the process comfortably. The next step is all about trimming the ends of both object that we want to fuse. We insert a heater plate in between the ends and after heating sufficiently the heater plate is removed, both the ends are then brought together to connect them to each other. The joint is then allowed to cool.

Now let me tell you about the physical features of the HDPE pipe, which makes the substance long lasting and weather resistant. Traditionally the pressure of the HDPE is supposed to be up to 267 psi at 73.4 degree Fahrenheit, along with a safety factor ratio of 2:1. As I have already mentioned earlier High Density Polyethylene pipe is highly durable and it can withstand the extreme weather, in fact generally water inside the pipe can turn into ice and liquefy without altering the composition of the HDPE pipeline network.

In case of ordinary or PVC pipes, a 32 degree Fahrenheit temperature can make your pipeline network as brittle as glass whereas HDPE pipe will remain unchanged at a temperature of -180 degree Fahrenheit. Therefore you can mark the differences yourself.

The machines and tools required to install and/ or fuse an High Density Polyethylene can be rented or purchased. Maintenance and repairing of HDPE is more flexible than PVC.

So, now you know why people are opting for HDPE pipe instead of PVC. You can get rid of frequent leakage and other associated problems by replacing your old pipes.
